VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Espoo, Finland, is recruiting a Research Scientist specialised in finite-element modelling for its soft materials modelling team (ProperTune Soft Condensed Materials), on a full-time permanent basis. The role develops advanced multiscale and multiphysics models to predict moisture and heat transfer, biological deterioration and long-term durability of wood and other bio-based materials and composites, and the mechanics of polymers and bio-based composites, combining finite-element modelling, data-driven methods and experimental observations, using high-performance computing. Requirements stated: an MSc or PhD in Computational Mechanics, Materials Science, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computational Science, Applied Mathematics or another relevant field, strong expertise in finite-element modelling and computational multiphysics, and scientific programming skills in Python or Julia.
