Almost every government job in Pakistan is filled through a public advertisement and a competitive test — nobody can hand you one, and no agent can "confirm" one for a fee. This guide explains exactly how the system works: which commission hires for which jobs, how to read an advertisement, what documents you need, and how the test and interview process runs, so you can apply with confidence in 2026.
Parwaz collects verified ads from all of these sources in one place — browse the latest on the Pakistan Jobs page or the dedicated Government Jobs in Pakistan page.
Every genuine advertisement answers the same questions. Before anything else, find these five things:
1. Eligibility — the exact degree and subject required (for example, "Master's in English with at least 2nd division"), plus any experience or licence the post demands.
2. Age limit — a minimum and maximum age, usually with a general age relaxation granted under government rules. The exact limit and relaxation are printed in the ad; calculate your age on the closing date, not the announcement date.
3. Domicile and quota — provincial commission posts are normally restricted to that province's domicile holders, and many ads reserve quota shares (women, minorities, disabled persons, children of employees). Federal posts may be open on merit or split by provincial quota.
4. Number of posts and pay scale — shown as BPS grades (for example BPS-16 or BPS-17) or a project pay package for contract posts.
5. How and where to apply — the portal link or postal address, the fee amount and how to pay it, and the closing date. If any of these is missing from something calling itself an advertisement, treat it as suspect.
Prepare these once and reuse them for every application:
Attestation is not usually needed at the application stage, but originals are checked at interview. If your degrees are not yet attested by the board/HEC, start that process early — it is slow in peak season.
1. Apply before the closing date. Portals slow down in the last 48 hours, and commissions almost never extend dates. Keep the submitted form and challan copy.
2. Screening / written test. Most posts begin with a one-paper MCQ test. The syllabus is published by the commission for each post and typically mixes English, general knowledge, Pakistan studies, Islamiat/Ethics, basic maths or IT, and the subject of the post. Past papers of the same commission are the best preparation guide.
3. Result and document scrutiny. Shortlisted candidates are called to submit documents. Anything in your form that your documents do not support ends the application here.
4. Interview. A panel interview before commission members or department officers. Subject knowledge, the duties of the post, and current affairs carry most of the weight.
5. Final merit and recommendation. The commission publishes the final merit list and recommends candidates to the department, which issues the appointment letter after medical and police verification where required.
New verified advertisements are added to Parwaz every morning. Use the Pakistan Jobs page filters to narrow by country, level and deadline, watch the Closing Soon page so a deadline never surprises you, and read our guide on spotting scholarship and job scams before paying any fee anywhere. When a deadline passes, the listing is marked closed and kept as an archive page for reference — browse pages only ever show posts you can still apply for.
